Can Quel de Foixà
Can Quel, located in the village of Foixa, was founded in 1899 by Miquel Torrent and Carme Carrier. Josep Torrent was one of their sons, he and his wife, Dolors Genis, picked up from the founders and built a restaurant and the bakery oven.
Jaume Torrent took the baton and dedicated more than 50 years of his life in the bakery oven, together with his wife, Felicitat Puig, and their kids. All together were exclusively dedicated to the restaurant and the bakery oven; and became the fourth generation to transmit the passion and hospitality that Can Quel and Foixa is known for.
Now, after a little break, a new team opens the doors again with a clear goal in mind, recapture and share the essence of Can Quel with the same love for the local cuisine.
Local ingredients and traditional cuisine
We offer traditional Catalan cuisine: Simple, generous and rewarding. A cuisine from L’Empordà region, with seafood and mountain plates, that makes use of the seasons to get the best out of the local recipes. Products close to us like ‘pa de coca’ (flat bread), ‘llegums amb botiffarra’ (beans and Catalan sausage) amongst many other specialities including homemade desserts will be served to you, as always, in a friends and family atmosphere.
